Subject: I bought a watch.
So I bought a watch. I used to wear a watch all the time, I had a great little Timex digital that lasted forever until Zumi put it through the laundry a couple of times. It survived the wash each time, but failed to live through the dryer. I mean, it probably survived the first part, I wasn't there or anything, it was waterproof and anyway I'm digressing.
I bought this watch:
I chose this for several reasons. I was not planning to get an analogue watch 'cause I never really liked all the clutter. Most of them have 14 little dials and a transparent face and tiny numbers and tinier hands, and it was fancy without being particularly useful. This one has large numbers, no clutter, and easy-to-see hands.
When I passed it in the shop I went 'whoah' and had to check it out. It's big, has a real leather strap, feels good, and works well. It's made by Gionnet, but it's basically a foreign-sounding name for a Japanese-made watch.
It's so awesome having a watch again. I have this newfound awareness of the passing of time. No more pulling out the phone to see what time it is, the watch is always handy! I know how long the train takes to get into Tokyo, 'cause I checked the watch. I wouldn't care enough to check the phone at each end, but hey! I can glance at the watch and know!
It's pretty great. It was expensive compared to disposable watches, but much cheaper than fancy watches. Money well spent.
