Subject: It's Tough Being an Old Geek
Back in the day I was pretty hard core. I was ordering chips and strange devices and wiring up cables to weird monitors and hunting for the finest video quality a MegaDrive could offer. I ran online bulletin boards before 'online' was a word, I replaced my own capacitors in my PC, I read shit, I researched shit, I figured shit out.
So I know what can be done. I know what my options are. And when Apple gives me an iPhone that only does what they allow me to do, it pisses me off. There are alternatives, like Google's Android platform, but that's too much like work. The Android app store is a mess, it's hard to navigate, there's no cohesive structure. I'm no longer interested in fucking around with obscure manuals and HowTo guides, I just expect shit to work, and I expect it to be easy to figure out how to change the shit I don't like.
I am an old geek.
And apparently, I am not alone.

So next time all you young punks whinge about me being a crusty, bitter old man filled with rage at intangible enemies, this is why. Fuck Apple, fuck Fraunhofer, fuck DRM, fuck the RIAA and the MPAA and AusGov and all these other cunts who just want to take away my happiness because they know I'm too old and lazy to work around their shit.
And dammit! Get offa my lawn!
