Subject: Orbital
When I had an iPhone, I had Orbital.  It was one of my go-to games, I'd pull it out and play it all the time.  It never really got old, and when I got my Galaxy S 2, the first game I went looking for was Orbital.  It wasn't available.

Now though, if you have an Android, you can get Orbital too.

Finally.

Orbital is a simple game, easier to grasp in motion than describe, but here goes:  Your cannon is constantly sweeping left to right and back again, and you tap the screen anywhere to launch a thing.

This thing has a limited momentum, and soon slows, then stops.  It'll bounce off anything it touches, so the eventual destination is a little bit difficult to predict, but you soon develop a feel for it.  When it stops, it expands to fill all the space it can, stopping only when it hits another thing, or a wall.  If it stops near something, it'll be quite small indeed.  If it stops in a large empty space, it'll grow huge and be a massive obstacle for future launches.

Each thing, once expanded, takes three hits to destroy.  You quickly end up with a screen full of these damned things, each with a number indicating the number of hits left to destroy it.

Simple, no?  Launch, expand, launch again.  One button, touch anywhere.

I don't know if it sounds good the way I've described it.  The thing is, it's awesome.  It looks great, plays great, and sounds amazing.  It has a whole new soundtrack over the iPhone release too, a wicked little chiptune number that you can tap your foot to while you suck at the game.

Three modes, but Gravity's the only one I play.  You can play multiplayer with one phone, which is brilliant.

Four bucks is a dollar or two steep, but I paid it without hesitation.  I recommend you do also.  The free trial is for Supernova mode, which I really don't like very much, but give it a try if you like.

Recently I wrote an article about the games I had on the iPhone but missed on the Android platform.  Orbital was one of the big ones, a game that perfectly exemplified the creative sort of stuff the iPhone was home to, but that Android lacked.

Over on the Orbital Game official site they linked to this article.  Have a read, if you like!
